Losing Your Adult Teeth In Provo, Utah?

dental implant cost Utah County

It was one thing to lose that set of baby teeth but, unfortunately, these don’t grow back. (And you don’t look adorable with a gap-toothed smile.) If you feel like you are losing your adult teeth to staining, decay, chipping or brittle aging then it’s time to visit with Dr. Hammond at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry. Since 1967, Dr. Hammond has built a practice teeming with experience, filled with kindness, flowing with a gentle touch, and carrying all the wisdom of wise, capable professionals.

When it comes to the prospect of losing your adult teeth, the preference is always to save your natural teeth. If this is not possible, we can look at other ways to maintain your ability to eat, drink, speak, laugh and smile in selfies.

Dental Bridge
A dental bridge is used where a tooth is missing. It “bridges” a gap between teeth. There is a false tooth (or teeth) attached to the surrounding teeth. Dental bridges have been used with success for generations of dental patients who have lost teeth for various reasons.

Dental Implant
A dental implant is a more extensive replacement for a missing tooth. An implant consists of an artificial tooth PLUS an artificial root (usually biocompatible titanium). With local anesthesia, the artificial root is actually inserted into the jaw bone where it integrates with the bone tissue. There are three parts to a dental implant: the artificial root, the connecting abutment, and the final crown or denture. An implant offers beauty, strength, natural function and protection from bone recession that often occurs at the site of a missing tooth.

Dentures
Most Provo residents have heard of dentures: a plate holding artificial teeth that can be removed by the patient. These are custom made and can contain varying numbers of teeth. Sometimes the entire set of upper and lower teeth have to be pulled and a denture created for chewing and speaking. Modern dentistry offers a myriad of custom dental implant-denture combinations to restore missing teeth.

Dental Veneers
If you still have your teeth, but are not happy with them, these might be your answer. Stunning porcelain veneers offer an affordable approach to cosmetic adjustments – uneven color, size or shape. These are very thin shells bonded to the front of the teeth. They beautify unsightly, but structually sound teeth.

Don’t worry about losing your grip on the adult teeth you’ve been enjoying all these years. We have experience and training in many services to meet your dental needs including mini implants, sedation dentistry, dental crowns, and Invisalign.

Schedule your initial consultation at 801-374-0070 to visit us at 3575 N 100 E in Provo, Utah. We are perfectly situated for our neighbors throughout the Lehi, Utah County, and American Fork areas.

Your consultation will include a customized treatment plan for restoring teeth, the cost of dental procedures and a schedule for completing the dental plan created specifically for you. Come with questions and leave with answers.

Hate Your Dentures?

Hate Your Dentures Provo? Perhaps you have heard or seen the Provo dental industry’s advertising about dental implants. Most Provo dentists claim that dental implant dentures can change your life. Does this sound like hype? Exaggeration?

Let’s look at the facts about dental implant anchored dentures in Provo:

Chewing: An oral implant denture can restore up to 95 percent of normal chewing function. How important is chewing? Can you chew easily with your current full or partial denture? Can you bite apples? When was the last time you ate a raw carrot?

Fit: Implant supported dentures stay in place. An implant denture doesn’t slide around in your mouth and cause sores. Utah County implant denture wearers who exercise regularly especially appreciate this benefit.

Appearance: How does your smile look? Can you smile confidently? How many Provo denture wearers love their smile? Implant anchored dentures look like natural teeth. They don’t move when you smile, eat, talk, bike, swim, dance, golf, ski; you get the idea.

Bone health: When teeth are extracted, bone recession can occur over time (in fact, this happens in almost every case). Because a titanium implant is an artificial ‘tooth root’ inserted into your jaw bone, your bone has a better chance of staying healthy. If there are no other adverse conditions present, your jaw bone should remain strong and dense, just as if the original tooth root were there.

If you hate your dentures and live in Utah County or Provo, why don’t you come in for a consultation about dental implants and mini-implants? We can discuss all the particulars including procedure specifics, healing time and dental implant cost. Then you can decide for yourself if Implant dentures will, as promised, change your life.

Provo Wants Silver Screen Smiles

Utah County Cosmetic Dentistry For Silver Screen Smiles

With the constant media coverage of celebrities, many Provo dental patients are interested in having a smile like the stars. With an experienced dentist and the right smile makeover procedures, anyone can have a smile they want to show off.

Many smile makeovers include teeth whitening. There are a variety of ways this can be done. Most Provo, Orem, and Utah County drugstores sell over-the-counter whitening strips and gels. Your Provo cosmetic dentist can recommend an effective one, or he may offer in-office bleaching. This is a quick way to see whiter teeth in less than an hour.

For missing teeth, most Orem cosmetic dentists will recommend a dental implant. Because a dental implant is anchored into the jawbone, it looks and feels just like a natural tooth. A dental implant prevents jawbone recession and the shifting of adjacent teeth.

Veneers are especially popular in the Utah County area. They cover the front of the teeth and are custom-made for each individual patient. These are useful for Provo patients who have broken or chipped teeth, stained teeth, or gaps between teeth that they would like to hide.

Enamel shaping, bonding, and braces are other successful treatments that can be used to help your teeth look their best.

We’re Dr. Hammond, trusted Provo dentists. If you are looking for quality dental care in the Provo, Orem, or Utah County area, we hope you’ll give us a call at 801-374-0070.

We offer cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, dental implants, and dental crowns.

Protect Provo Kids’ Teeth With Custom Mouthguards

Provo Family Dentistry and Custom Mouthguards

At Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry we see many Provo children and teens with serious mouth and tooth injuries that could have been prevented had they been wearing a mouthguard. When a tooth is knocked out or broken, speaking, eating, and smiling can become very difficult.

We are Dr. Hammond and we recommend that Provo parents encourage their children to wear mouthguards when participating in team sports, skateboarding, skiing, and ice skating. Ask us about custom mouthguards that will fit your child perfectly and offer excellent protection. Stock mouthguards found at most Provo sporting goods stores are also an option, they just might not fit as well.

If you or your child is in need of cosmetic dentistry due to an injury or an accident, my staff and I at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry offer many restorative options.

If the tooth is cracked, porcelain veneers may be an option. This procedure is done by bonding a custom-fitted porcelain veneer to your tooth or teeth. This can cover a crack, chip, or discoloration.

Cosmetic bonding is also an option for a chipped or cracked tooth. A composite material is matched to your tooth color and then sculpted around your existing tooth to repair the crack or chip. This procedure is less expensive than veneers and gives beautiful results.

If a crown or dental implant is required to repair your tooth, my staff and I at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry will provide quality crowns made from high-strength ceramic or porcelain with beautiful shape, color, and translucency.

Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry has been offering family and cosmetic dentistry to the people of Utah since 1996. My staff and I would love to serve you and your family. We invite you to contact us today to schedule a consultation.

New Protein For Utah County Dental Implant Patients

New Protein For Utah County Dental Implants Patients Hundreds of Utah County dental implant recipients have replaced missing teeth with jaw-bone anchored tooth implants. Unlike a dental bridge, a tooth implant consists of a titanium post inserted into the jaw bone. The bone meshes with the post to create a strong base for the natural-looking prosthetic tooth and crown that attaches to the post.

Dental implants are usually the ideal restoration for Utah County people who want to replace a missing tooth. There is a problem, however, if the jaw bone is too thin at the implant site.

When a tooth is extracted, the bone loses the blood circulation at the former site of the root. Consequently, bone recession often occurs. If the recession is extensive, there is not enough bone to hold the dental implant post.

Bone grafting can augment the bone at the implant site and provide the bone density necessary for a successful implant. This is usually effective, but it does require time for the new bone to generate. A new discovery may provide a quicker solution for regenerating bone.

Researchers at the Georgia Health Sciences University College of Dental Medicine have identified a protein that quickly stimulates the production of new bone. The research team, led by Dr. Ulf M.E. Wikesjo, implanted bone morphogenetic protein in test subjects and discovered that “more new bone formed within four weeks than with conventional bone grafting.”

This protein will require extensive testing before it is available for Utah County dental implant patients. However, I am pleased at the prospect of an additional method for making dental implants possible for my Utah County clients with missing teeth and jaw bone recession.

Lighten Up In Orem

Zoom Whitening Orem Hello! Today’s dental article is for Orem people with stained teeth. Do you think your teeth are too stained for teeth whitening to have any effect? Think again. At Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Orem, we are whitening smiles for patients with both intrinsic and extrinsic stains.

Extrinsic stains are caused by dark colored foods and drinks, smoking, and normal aging. Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry cosmetic dentistry patients with extrinsic stains achieve great results from both in-office and take-home teeth Zoom whitening systems.

Intrinsic stains form on the inside but can be seen from the outside. Tetracycline, excessive fluoride, trauma, and aging can cause intrinsic staining for unfortunate Orem general dentistry patients. Though these stains are harder to remove, many Orem patients with intrinsic staining can whiten their teeth with take-home whitening kits. The process often takes longer, but with persistence, intrinsic stains can be lightened.

In addition to teeth whitening, we provide a full menu of cosmetic dental procedures at our Orem area office. With porcelain veneers, you can correct the shape of your teeth in addition to brightening the color. If you are missing a tooth, a dental implant may be the solution. Call 801-374-0070 for a dental implant or smile design consultation.

If you are embarrassed by a less-than-sparkling smile, let the team of dental professionals at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry help you lighten up.

Missing Teeth In Provo? Dentures And Implants Restore Smiles

Dental Implants Provo

If you have had years of dental problems or are embarrassed by your teeth, our friendly and professional team at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry can help you find the restoration procedure right for you. You could be a candidate for complete or partial dentures or dental implants.

A removable replacement for missing teeth, dentures can be made in advance and positioned as soon as the natural teeth are removed.

If you still have some healthy, natural teeth, you can benefit from dentures without having your healthy teeth extracted.

Partial dentures fill in the gaps, replacing missing teeth to complete a smile. Partial dentures can prevent natural teeth from moving. Many Provo dental practices can complete these procedures in one day.

Many dental insurance providers cover most or all of the cost of dentures. Call us at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry and we can help you find out if your dental insurance covers dentures.

Another alternative for Provo people with missing teeth is to receive dental implants. A dental implant is a permanent tooth restoration that is anchored into the jawbone, actually replacing both the root and crown of the tooth. Dental implants have many advantages, such as preventing jaw bone recession which can occur when natural teeth are removed. However, not all Provo dentistry patients are good candidates for implants. Call Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry at 801-374-0070 for a dental implant consultation.

Dental implants can also be used to anchor a removable denture. The denture is ‘snapped on’ or attached to the implants for no-slip confidence.

The combination denture/implant smile restoration solution is being used successfully by many Provo dentists. It is usually more affordable than dental implant replacements for several natural teeth.

Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health, improving your ability to eat and speak. If you are embarrassed to smile or laugh, it’s time to bring back your beautiful smile!

Why Aren’t You Smiling?

Cosmetic Dentistry Provo Hello, We’re Drs. Hammond DMD. Our dental practice is called Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry. We are located at 3575 N 100 E, Ste 200, Provo UT 84604, and you can reach us by calling 801-374-0070.

You can probably imagine why we look at smiles everywhere we go in the Provo area. Whether we are working with a Provo general dentistry patient, having dinner at a local restaurant, or attending an area sporting event, we notice whether the people around us smile. Whenever we encounter someone with obvious tooth problems, we want to tell them about the procedures that can completely transform their frown into a healthy and beautiful smile.

Are you one of those people who don’t want to show their teeth? We would love to talk to you about a smile makeover. Whatever your excuse is for not seeking dental treatment, we can discuss all of your concerns with you during a free consultation.

Perhaps you are afraid of dental work. Have you ever considered oral conscious sedation? With sedation dentistry, even extensive treatment is virtually pain free. Sedation will calm your mind as well as the nerves in your mouth.

Perhaps the cost of Provo cosmetic dentistry is holding you back. Our friendly and professional staff will be happy to talk to you about financing plans. It is important to remember that if your teeth are decayed, postponing treatment will cost more money in the long run. Filling a cavity is far more affordable dentistry than a root canal procedure or, in the case of an extracted tooth, a dental implant.

You can contact our office at 801-374-0070 or online at https://www.cosmeticdentistryutahcounty.com. Our Provo family dental website contains information about all the general, restorative and aesthetic services we provide.

We can transform your smile into one that you will want to show all the time!

Cosmetic Dental Solutions in Provo

Cosmetic Dental Solutions in Provo Provo cosmetic dentists use dental crowns to solve a number of dental dilemmas. A dental crown is a strong, natural-looking permanent tooth restoration that covers the top of the damaged tooth.

Provo family dentistry professionals recommend crowns to remedy the following problems:

  • A broken tooth with decay
  • An ill-fitting existing crown
  • A decayed tooth that has lost significant tooth structure
  • A tooth that has had a root canal
  • A tooth that is too small or misshapen
  • A tooth that causes a bite problem

Before your Provo cosmetic dentist can attach the crown to your tooth, we must prepare the tooth. Provo dentists often apply a local anesthetic so you won’t feel pain during the prepping. Your dentist will remove decay, if any, and shape the tooth to receive the crown. Then a mold is taken of the prepped tooth and surrounding teeth.

A temporary crown is then placed on the tooth to protect it until you return to your Provo general dentistry office to receive the permanent restoration. The patient needs to be careful while wearing the temporary crown. Vigorous brushing or flossing can displace the crown or damage the exposed soft tissue. The Provo dental crown patient should also refrain from eating extremely hard foods like nuts or sticky candy.

The mold of your teeth is sent to a local dental lab where your crown is built. Dental crowns are fabricated in three varieties: tooth colored crowns made of resin or porcelain, porcelain-fused-to-metal, and solid metal crowns. Each type has its pros and cons. Your Provo cosmetic dentist at Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry will choose the best crown material for your particular tooth.

What if you need a permanent dental restoration for both the top and root of your tooth? A dental implant is your answer.

For more information about complete dental restorations and other cosmetic dental solutions, call Hammond Aesthetic & General Dentistry at 801-374-0070 today.
